Energy & resource- based economies

I want to explore an economy where energy, materials and productive capacity become the basis of what people earn and exchange. If production becomes much more abundant, could people work for claims on resources or capacity instead of conventional money? I want to understand what those claims would entitle someone to, who would honour them, and how people would trade or use them.
